Iowa Youth Chorus is central Iowa's premier youth choral organization, now celebrating its 25th year of bringing choral excellence to the children in the Des Moines metro area.

Iowa Youth Chorus, formerly named Des Moines Children's Chorus, was founded in 1981 by Eugene Wilson and Millie Haynie. Their vision was to create a community organization that would cultivate musical greatness in children.

Iowa Youth Chorus is home to more than 250 singers from across central Iowa.  Students range in age from 6 to 18 and meet at one of six locations for weekly rehearsals and lessons.

Our intermediate and advanced choirs tour each year. Past regional tours by Chorale include exchanges with the Glen Ellyn Children's Chorus,  the North American Choral Company and the Young Naperville Singers. This year Chorale will tour to St. Louis and perform with the Kirkwood Children's Chorale.
