Our Faculty

Our Faculty

Our faculty have been with the Beginnings! program since the late 1990s. They have strong backgrounds in education and music. Their devotion to the program coupled with their love of children and music, make our program what it is today. Come visit our facility, see our program and meet them.




Barb Klubal
Instructor since 1998
Barb is a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia with a Bachelor of Music Education. She has been a member of the Des Moines Choral Society and currently plays lead drum with the Des Moines-based steel drum band "Tropical Steel". In addition to teaching all levels at the at the Iowa Youth Chorus Beginnings Program, Barb is a substitute music teacher in the Des Moines Public Schools. Barb and her husband live in Des Moines and have three sons.



Lori Lindberg
Instructor since 1999
Lori is a graduate of Luther College with a B.A. in Elementary Education. Her additional certification in early childhood development allows her to understand and communicate well with young children. Lori taught preschool and Kindergarten through the public schools for 13 years. Lori and her husband live in Urbandale and have three children.



Natalie Steenson
Instructor since 1997
Natalie received her B.A. in music and religion from Coe College. She has been a director of various children, youth, adult and hand bell ensembles and is often a featured soloist for church and community activities. At her church she leads worship and creatively directs liturgical arts with children. Natalie also provides educational outreach music programs as a member of the Metro Arts Alliance. She and her husband live in Des Moines and have two daughters.
