All classes are 15 weeks. Ages as of September 1, 2007 except Village and Our Time, where ages
are as of January 1, 2008.
Birth - 18 months
Dew Drops
- Stop and smell the roses - and lily of the valley, and tulips, and pansies... in the Dew Drops unit of Kindermusik
Village, families will play and move together to songs about flowers, such as "Jasmine Flower", "How Does
Your Garden Grow?", and "White Coral Bells". They'll also hear traditional Irish music: they'll dance a jig, move
to the "Irish Trot", and exercise to "Did You Ever See a Lassie"
18 months - 3 years
Away We Go!
Hop on the train, get in the car, board the plane, and Away We Go! This delightful unit focuses on
transportation, a favorite topic for toddlers who are on the go, go, go! Sing and play along with favorite songs,
such as "I've Been Workin' on the Railroad" and "Wheels on the Bus". Explore fast and slow, smooth and bumpy,
and high and low. Read stories about ways to get around. Shiny Dinah tells the story of a train, and Giddy-Up! has
a horse, speedboat, racecar, and more to help you get where you want to go.
Ages 3 - 4 years
Cycle of Seasons, Sun Catchers
celebrates your child's love of nature, growing independence and use of language through activities which
focus on the seasons of the year. Classes are designed to develop listening, focused attention, imagination,
creativity and self-expression through singing, chanting, creative movement, storytelling, musical games
and instrument exploration.
Ages 4 - 5 years
Music Makers
gives your child a solid music making foundation. It provides a developmentally sound
approach to music literacy that builds symbolic thinking, concentration, memory and
self-expression. Music Makers introduces orchestral instruments and ensemble play and focuses on
building a child's aural (listening) foundation which leads to long-term success with
music reading.
Ages 5 - 7 years
Semester 2
further develops your child's instrument-playing skills while developing the first instrument - the voice! With a
pressure-free approach which is concrete enough to develop the more abstract thinking processes that music
requires, this class balances playful activities with reading music notation and playing the glockenspiel, laying
the groundwork for musical success.
Semester 4
explores multicultural music - from Japan to Hawaii to Africa, just to name a few! Children will learn basic
notation concepts on their first wind instrument - the recorder - while gaining confidence and appreciation for their
own musical gifts.
Ages 7 - 9 years
Semester 2
emphasizes the aural method and helps students build a natural bridge to reading. Through a holistic approach
to music learning, this class features dancing and drumming to nurture your child's rhythmic development and
singing to nurture tonal development. Literacy skills are developed through musical dictation, composition and
notation games.
Semester 4
refines the physical and aural skills developed in year 1. Your child will be introduced to
much-loved piano repertoire and develop comprehensive musicianship while continuing to build the foundation
for life-long music making.
