Iowa Youth Chorus Summer Workshop Series

"SING AROUND THE WORLD"  2005 SUMMER MUSIC CAMP

Iowa Youth Chorus is sponsoring two summer camps this June.  Each camp centers on a different musical theme and culminates with an informal concert or presentation on the final day of camp. Our camps are open to all interested youth as well as our own choristers.

2007 MUSIC CAMPS

Temple for Performing Arts

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon

June 18-22 - MUSICAL MADNESS - The Lion King!

Because Musical Madness was such a success last summer we are doing it again this summer! 

• SING! DANCE! ACT! 

• Participants will learn all the parts that go into putting on a musical - singing, dancing, acting and creating scenery and costumes.

• Campers will participate in all of these activities in a fun-filled week of half-day workshops.

• On the final day of camp we will perform selections from The Lion King for parents and friends.

Open to: Children Ages 8-11 years

Performance: 11:30 a.m. final day of camp

Cost:  $80, $65 for siblings

June 27-29 - DRUM AROUND THE WORLD

• Explore drumming patterns from Africa and other parts of the world 

• Improvise patterns and create your own drum circle piece.

• Learn songs, games and dances from other cultures.

Drum Around the World will be a three half day workshop centered on percussion. Instruments will be provided

Open to: Children Ages 9-12 years

Performance: 11:30 a.m. final day of camp

Cost:  $60, $48 for siblings
